They will respond in one of five ways;
- Absolutely No!
- Yes - Professional Displays only
- Yes - Professional Displays only with a restriction on noise or firing times
- Yes - You can have either a Professional Company or Do It Yourself
- Don't Know - The Venue is unsure whether to allow them or not
Obviously if you answer is "Absolutely No!" then you either accept not having fireworks or find another venue that will. If its any other the other responses we can help.
Using a Professional Operator.
The venue may be able to recommend an operator to you or they may have an exclusive arrangement with a particular operator or have an approved list. When choosing your own operator do try to remember that not only does the operator need to please you but also the venue. Your venue will be concerned about insurance, health and safety and professional working (meaning will they produce the paper work, turn up on time, clear the site afterwards etc.). I am amazed that sometimes we receive calls from venues panicking about the fact there is another operator working there but they have no idea what time they are turning up, how many crew, vehicle registrations, what the firing time is, what time they are leaving and somehow because we always provide that information and more that we can answer it for them.
Noise and Firing time restrictions.
Your venue may ask that the professional operator fires a reduced noise display. At Sonic Fireworks we can reduce the noise level of our professional displays from the normal 120Db to closer to 95Db, we also reduce the height of the display as this reduces the area of noise disturbance. The venue may also ask for the fireworks to be fired by a certain time. You are legally require to fire before 11pm by law but the venue may have agreed with neighbours an earlier deadline. This can be an issue at the height of summer when you have very light evenings but we never found it too much of a problem.
Allowing you to fire your own Fireworks.
Some venues allow you to fire your own fireworks, some may ask you to take out a specific insurance policy on them. Although this is usually going to cost you over £100 to do this and in my experience normally means going for a professional display instead. You can read an article of having fireworks at your home wedding and much of the safety advice applies if your firing fireworks at a commercial wedding venue.
The undecided venues.
Some venues may not of had fireworks before or are just not sure whats involved. Our attitude at Sonic Fireworks is always to offer those venues straight forward advice of what's involved in having fireworks at their venue and let them make their mind up based upon sound and honest information. If you would like us to talk to your venue just get in touch.
